The Versatility of Acrylic
Acrylic is such a versatile and popular material with many organisations and products. It is often preferred to use instead of glass, acrylic has many qualities that glass doesn’t. Acrylic may be a little more expensive to buy at first however many people still prefer to use acrylic. Acrylic is very easily shaped which really helps if the use for acrylic has a unique purpose. Many aquariums in sea life centres and so on are made from acrylic, this is probably because of how easy acrylic is to shape, it is also very strong and unlikely to shatter, acrylic is also much more opaque compared to glass, this makes it easier to see through acrylic compared to glass, perfect for looking at all the fish!
Acrylic is also used for business and entertainment purposes. Acrylic Domes are usually used to present information for presentations and even shows. The domes can display colours, logos, pictures and text, perfect if you really want to catch the eye of potential clients. Acrylic can be used to make all types of things and many things are already made from acrylic, there was one good acrylic company who made the first acrylic staircase. So it just shows the possibilities of acrylic.
Acrylic obviously isn’t perfect and there are two reasons here why it’s not. Acrylic is often more expensive than glass. However acrylic can easily be used for more things than glass and can be repaired much easier.
If acrylic is exposed to a direct flame then it will melt and will eventually start to burn. Which could obviously be a major problem.
